THINGS ARE PROGRESSING TOWARD RETIREMENT
September 1st is the official date for my retirement from the Principal Financial Group. The details have proceeded smoothly thus far. My house re-financing is completed. I am very pleased with the whole process. I had a very good appraisal and a very smooth and satisfactory closing. I now have a fixed rate on a 15-year mortgage with reasonable monthly payments.
All things seem to be in place for my monthly income to be equal to my monthly expenses—hopefully with some money left over each month!
There are several more details to be finalized in the next few weeks – getting enrolled for Medicare Part B and an adequate Medicare supplement; arranging for part time work; and others as well. But I think I have a “handle” on each item and plans are progressing to a satisfactory competition before my planned retirement date.
As now planned, I’ll work through August and be officially retired September 1st. I’m ready for retirement. I have much I want to do. I’m hoping having more time will allow me to accomplish some of these things more quickly than if I were still working full time. And I have two very sweet grandchildren who need some more frequent “Papa” attention! I’m really looking forward to that!
