A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY

Today in our worship services we had the privilege of being led in worship by the Choir and
Band from the Cincinnati Christian University, Cincinnati, Ohio. It was a marvelous worship experience.

We church members had the terrific opportunity of hosting these fine young people in our homes Saturday night. Pictured here are the two young men I had the honor of hosting. They were gracious, appreciative guests. I enjoyed them so much. Although our time together was short, the bond of friendship was formed. I am so grateful for their dedication to serving our Lord and His Church with their talented lives.

The young man on the left (in the yellow shirt) is Tim, a General Ministries Major. The other young man is Scott, a Worship Ministry major. I'll pray for them as they continue to serve our Lord in their internship ministries, even as they complete their formal education.

NEIGHBORHOOD BEAUTY

The beauty of the south that I described in my last Blog Post (with pictures) has begun to move north. After going all the way to Alabama and back two weeks ago, I am finding beauty in my own neighborhood. These are among the prettiest of the scenes I have seen on my nightly neighborhood walks. Tonight I remembered to take my camera along on the walk. Thus I was able to capture these beautiful trees.

I'm going to have some pretty flowers in my own yard to show before too long.

I figured that if these people (not my friends) had this award sign in their yard, they wouldn't mind me taking pictures of their beautiful yard.

You'll have to read these Posts from the bottom up. Scroll down to the heading, "ALABAMA TRIP". Sorry, but I don't yet know how to Post things so they read from the top down--unless I think "backward"! (You'd think I'd be good at thinking backward--but I'm not!)

Thanks for reading/viewing this. I really enjoyed actually seeing this beauty of God's creation in person. And I enjoy looking at the pictures--even though the pictures aren't as glorious as seeing these things in person.

This is my friend's yard and house where I took the last several pictures. A really pretty yard.

Allow me one more picture of an azalea bush? I think you'd have to say that they are my favorite!

Just a few more pictures and I have to quit posting--it is getting late. I'm usually not much of a picture-taker but I love the flowers, trees and bushes in the South. It seems like there is something beautiful growing and blooming the year around down there.

I really liked this little bush, too.

I forgot to find out from my friends the name of this bush in their front yard. But it was very pretty

This is a lighter shade of an azalea bush. It seems each color or shade has it's own beauty.

I also like the dogwood trees. They weren't as beautiful this year--probably because of the storm. It seems that the pink dogwood blossoms are less common than the white. I like the pink and this is about the best pink dogwood tree I saw.

I really like this picture of the azalea bush. It would have had more blooms, I am sure, if it hadn't been for the storm a couple of days before.

This picture of the hydrangea bush (commonly called a "snowball bush") is the riskiest picture because of the house number on the mailbox. But there's no street name. I don't even know the name of the street so I'm thinking I'm safe. Anita says for a regular picture I can "crop" out the mailbox but I don't now how to do that on this Post.

This is an azalea bush by the corner of some one's house. I have several pictures of trees and flowers in front of different houses. Anita, my lawyer daughter, reminded me there might be legal consequences of taking pictures of people's houses uninvited. So the pictures you see of some one's house are pictures of a house belonging to people we visited whom I have known for 30 years.

TRIP TO ALABAMA

Last weekend Anita and I made a long weekend trip to Alabama. We attended the University of Alabama's A-Day Football game. We got sun burns but had a good time once we got there. There was rain, tennis-ball size hail, tornadoes, just horrible weather on the way down Friday. It was beautiful in Indiana when we left that morning. But we drove through the hail and heavy, wind-driven rain. Then we heard about the tornadoes going right across I-65 where we were headed. We found a radio station that was giving continuous coverage on the progress of the tornadoes and hail. We stopped several times on the way down to let conditions improve where we were headed before we got there.

But we managed to let the bad weather pass through the area ahead of our arrival. So once we got to Birmingham--the direct target of the storms--things were okay weather-wise. There were a lot of trees and tree limbs down. We also saw electric+ wires on the ground across some of the streets we tried to drive.

The weather was much cooler than I was expecting and hoping for. The flowers and trees weren't as pretty as they normally are in that area this time of year. I am sure this was due to the wind, rain and hail. But I was able to get some good pictures which I am posting on this Blog.

To the right is a beautiful white dogwood. The front of the blue pickup detracts but there was no one around to ask to move it.

More pictures follow.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Earlier this month I had another birthday. I am thankful for the life God continues to give me. The girls asked what I wanted for my birthday so I gave them a list: Flower beds raked; Cana bulbs planted; rocks thrown back in the driveway; ladder hung on the wall of the garage; dusting inside the house; windows washed.

Because of the wet weather we didn't get a lot of the outside things done yet. But the windows got washed; the rocks thrown back in the driveway and not only dusting, but the whole house got a thorough cleaning! It's great to get what you want and really need. And it hasn't cost the girls any money!

The picture below is my grandson, Jackson, anxiously waiting for the picture-taking to be over so he can attack the cake!
