OFF THE “IRS” HOOK!
October of last year I was notified by the IRS that they wanted to “review” a portion of my 2005 income tax return. They asked for cancelled checks of all my “charitable” contributions. They settled for receipts from the organizations to which I had made a contribution.
I submitted these by the November deadline. I received written notice that the IRS had received the documentation. Included in the notice was a statement that they would notify me if they needed further information or documentation. After that I heard nothing more. It was like waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Mid-January this year I received notice (actually 4 identical notices!) that the IRS was making NO CHANGES to my 2005 Income tax return filing.
The other shoe had dropped—and it didn’t hit me on the head! There was grateful praise to the Lord!
I received two identical envelopes from the IRS. Each envelope contained two identical letters saying they weren’t changing my 2005 return. I don’t understand why it took four identical letters in two identical envelopes to tell one person they weren’t changing their return. But I got the message and am very glad.
Now I am ready to submit my 2007 return.
